The Windows XP registry is a database repository for information about a computer’s configuration. The registry keep growing when you use Windows XP. As the database grows, it sometimes doesn’t delete old and unused information which will make it become cluttered and eventually fragmented.
Because of these increased files the registry database will get larger. As it does it may hurt the performance of your computer system and can even cause a number of strange and unusual software problems.
For this reason it is important to occasionally run a good Windows XP registry cleaner. This will remove orphaned and unused files from the database as well as fix any inconsistencies that it finds with the registry.
